So Much To Be Thankful For!

It is hard to describe how grateful the mission team is for the St. Pete's family. We want especially to thank VBS for their wonderful efforts to help us take our school supplies with us. We have many bags packed with paper, pencils, rulers, eyeglasses, markers, solar calculators....the list goes on and on.

I was particularly thankful for the many heartfelt, good wishes I received during church today. I know each of us feel that all of you are so much a part of the work we hope to do, and your support makes us better able to meet the needs that we will face when we arrive.

Here is my first request. Say a prayer that we will be met at the airport and will easily transport ALL of our many bags to the Cape Hotel! It will be the first task we face once we land. I might have to get a picture of our group as we wrestle all those bags into the van we have rented!

Blessings to all of you,
Jaq and the Team

  1. ARE WE THERE YET??? (Part II) Sunday, July 15 we said our fairwells to our friends and supporters at St. Pete's and headed for Dulles at noon. Checking in 14 bags of checked luggage at 50-pounds each was challenging, but we did it and, after a circle prayer led by Carrie Marie and Joseph, our inspiration, we navigated security and made it to the gate to await our 4pm departure.

Unfortunately, after boarding our plane for JFK, on time and ready to make our connection in New York for Monrovia, the pilot came on the intercomm and announced that widespread bad weather was causing major delays for all air traffic in and out of the New York area. So bad that they completely cancelled the flight and told us to rebook with agents standing by in the gate. Much to our chagrin, after much discussion with the agent (and with Monrovia not being the most frequented destination), we weren't able to find another flight with six open seats until this coming Thursday, July 19th. So we will try again then, flying through Atlanta this time, with arrival, God willing, in Monrovia on Friday afternoon. And we will see what wonderful works God has planned for us then!

Carrie Marie returned to the airport to rescue us from our cancellation and will be taking us back to Dulles Airport on Thursday morning at around 9:30am for our 12:15pm departure. Thank you so much Carrie Marie... you are a real blessing to us.

We are still planning our return on 27-28 July and are working on alternative plans of instruction and visitations to try to still accomplish as much beneficial work as we can. I'm just thankful we're stranded for 3 days in our own community rather than who knows where!! It's nice to be home... we just didn't expect it so soon.

In all things, God be glorified!
    Tim
